Obituary

Vincent J. Almony, 66, a lifelong resident of Woodlyn, PA, died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia after a long, courageous battle with bladder cancer.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Strain) Almony. Vince graduated from St. James Catholic High School, class of 1971.

Survived by the love of his life, his wife of 29 years, Susan (McGarry), his pride and joy daughter Allie Mischler (Frank), brother Joseph Almony (Barbara), father-in-law Robert McGarry, and brother-in-law Robert G. McGarry (Patricia). Vince is also survived by many treasured family and friends.

Vince was a loyal and valued employee of American Airlines (US Airways) for 35 years. Vince has received service recognition awards and certificates for his service. Vince loved his friends at US Airways and never wanted to retire. He always said, “It’s like hanging on the corner with the guys.”

Vince was a three-sport referee for PIAA for over 15 years. He was a basketball referee for grade school, middle school and Junior varsity for boys and girls out of the Delco Chapter.

He was a soccer referee for the Pioneer Chapter and a referee for lacrosse out of the District 1 LAX. He loved being on the court and on the fields with the players and the families.

Everyone who knew Vince will remember him as the best guy you will ever know or meet, and we all agree. We will miss him forever.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9-11 am at Lazaretto Ballroom, 99 Wanamaker Ave, Essington, PA. followed by his Funeral service at 11:00 am .

Face masks and social distancing is required at all time.

Dear Sue and Allie
I guess this message will just get to the point...it was a privilege to know Vince. We considered him family and friend, a pleasure to be around. So apparent he loved you both so very much and he loved life! We hope you find comfort in all the wonderful memories that the 3 of you shared. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace Vince.
