Obituary

Barbara Jeanne Eigenbrood, 72 of Media, PA, died Tuesday May 19, 2020 in the Kindred Hospital Havertown, PA

Born in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicolas Profeto and the late Regina (McDermott) Fitting. Barbara lived in Fair Acres for the past 10 years coming from Ardmore, PA and Prospect Park, PA. She previously was a member of ST. Rose of Lima and ST. Madeline’s Roman Catholic Churches.

Although seriously injured in an automobile accident at the age of 23 that left her paraplegic. Barbara went on to raise her son as a full-time mother, re-learn to drive and gain employment with the US Forest Service. Much of her spare time was devoted to advocacy and volunteer work including Taylor Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital where she provided support to others suffering from spinal cord injuries. Always adventurous and interested in trying new things Barbara engaged in many activities over the years including rowing in the BAYADA Regatta and Scuba Diving in the Caribbean.

Predeceased by her granddaughter Charlotte A. Gallagher and Step Father Leslie Fitting.

Survived by her son: David Gallagher, her three sisters: Janet Kendra (Profeto), Leslie Berardi (Fitting) and June Wentzel (Profeto), and her brother: David Profeto.
Her three Great granddaughters, Kaylynn Kudel, Keirstyn Kudel and Johannah Lincul
